The Somers Schools Alumni Association (SSAA) was organized in 2004 to provide additional educational support to the Somers Central School District through funding for SAT/ACT tutoring, academic scholarships, and in-school assemblies for current Somers students; to provide college and career advice to current Somers students from Somers alumni; and to organize and fund student/alumni mentoring activities. The Somers Schools Alumni Association also provides an organization for alumni to stay informed about the Somers Central School District and foster support for the Somers Schools.

We are now inviting Somers alumni, friends and family to join our College and Career Network! As we continue to widen our membership base, we are looking for volunteers to mentor current Somers students on college and / or career choices. What do you wish you had known when you were in high school? This program will help current students through one of the most exciting yet difficult times in their lives. It will also give our alumni the opportunity to contribute to the students in the school district that had previously given so much to them.

We are currently looking for alumni who would like to donate their time to mentor a Somers High School student. Communication between the alumni and mentor can be through email and telephone. The time commitment is based on the alumnus and student, but usually will not exceed more than one hour per month. Pairings will depend on the student's interests, which we will try to best match to the alumni's background.

We are looking for any alumni, parents, or friends who would like to assist Somers High School students in finding summer internships or job "shadowing" opportunities in the New York / Westchester area. Since this program is in its primary stages, at this time we are only looking for community interest and are not yet placing students in any positions. If alumni or others are aware of future summer internship / job possibilities, would like to volunteer their time developing this program, or have any questions, please email SSAA at mentor@tuskersalumni.org.
